Four of 62 provinces and cities hit by the pandemic have passed through 14 consecutive days without new Covid-19 infections, including Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Quang Ninh and Bac Kan.

In related news, Dong Nai Province will continue to apply the social distancing order under the prime minister’s Directive 16 for 15 more days, starting from August 2, to stop the spread of Covid-19. The provincial government also issued a restriction over night movement.

The 222 new Covid-19 cases raised the province’s caseload to 3,892 in the ongoing fourth wave, the local media reported.

Due to the trajectory of the pandemic, many other southern provinces such as Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Vinh Long and Long An are set to extend social distancing for one or two more weeks.

In another development, as the Covid-19 infections in Hanoi City surpassed 1,000, the city will requisition 10 resettlement apartment buildings as concentrated quarantine centers and field hospitals.

Also, the city is planning to set up an intensive care center for severely-ill Covid-19 patients with 500 beds in Hoang Mai District. The center will be built within one month and put into service in late August.
