Tóc Tiên to Compete in Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026

Tóc Tiên to Compete in Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026

Vietnamese singer Tóc Tiên, aged 37, will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026, scheduled to be held in Thailand in November. She is one of 11 contestants participating in the event, alongside singers from South Korea, Bhutan, Mongolia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Nepal, Laos, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and the host country Thailand.

Tóc Tiên expressed that she is not competing as an individual but rather carrying the hopes of her team and representing her nation on this regional stage. Following her success in the show "The Beautiful Sister Who Rides the Wind and Breaks the Waves 2024," she views this competition as an opportunity to achieve a new milestone in her career. However, she admits that the scale and nature of this international contest bring significant pressure. "The current pressure I feel is much heavier than in previous competitions," she stated.

To select her representative song, the program "Vietnamese Sound Selection" will hold a live performance on October 3, where Tóc Tiên will showcase five new songs produced by various teams. The winning performance will be the one she brings to Thailand. The organizers are adhering to the original format controlled by Eurovision, requiring that all songs be performed live.

"I hope my fans will be proud of my performance before I step onto the international stage," she added. According to the organizers, the winning song must meet three criteria: it should embody the essence of Vietnamese music, align with international trends, and have strong connectivity when placed alongside competitors from the region. Music director Huy Tuấn is guiding the project, encouraging producers to explore diverse musical styles ranging from Pop, R&B, Hip-hop, Electronic to traditional music.

Tóc Tiên began her artistic journey at the age of four in a children's cultural center in Ho Chi Minh City and entered professional performance at 13. After studying in the United States, she returned to Vietnam in 2014 and has released several hit songs such as "Tomorrow" and "Is There Anyone Who Loves You Like I Do." She was awarded the Best Asian Artist at the Mnet Asian Music Awards in 2017 and has also ventured into acting with roles in films such as "Old Geezer," "Beauty and the Gangster," and "Thanh Sói." After over 20 years in the entertainment industry, she continues to captivate the public with her sexy image and youthful musical style, recently winning three trophies in "The Beautiful Sister Who Rides the Wind and Breaks the Waves 2024."

The Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 is the Asian version of the long-standing European music competition, which has been running for 70 years. Contestants will compete in a single night, with results based on a 50% jury score and 50% public voting. Each performance is limited to three minutes, with a maximum of six performers on stage. The event is set to take place on November 14 in Thailand and will be broadcast on Channel 3 and other participating countries' television networks.
