As of September 27, 2026, the banking sector in Vietnam has seen a competitive landscape with several banks offering attractive interest rates on savings accounts. Notably, seven banks have set their rates above 8%, making them appealing options for savers.
Leading the pack is PVcomBank, which has announced a remarkable interest rate of 10% per annum for deposits with a term of 12 to 13 months. However, this rate is contingent upon customers depositing a minimum of 2 trillion VND at the bank's branches.
Following closely is MSB, offering a 9% interest rate for deposits of 12 or 13 months, applicable to new savings accounts opened since January 1, 2018, with a minimum balance requirement of 500 billion VND.
SCB is also competitive, providing an interest rate of 8.7% per annum on its standard 13-month deposit product, which is currently the highest available rate for this term in the market.
At Nam A Bank, customers who deposit 500 billion VND or more for a term of 24 months can earn an interest rate of up to 8.3% per annum, while a 36-month deposit can yield 8.1% per annum after approval from the bank's General Director.
BVBank is running a promotional program that offers an additional 1.9% per annum on savings for new individual customers who deposit through its digital banking app. This can elevate the effective interest rate on a 6-month online deposit from 6.7% to as high as 8.6% per annum.
Moreover, Cake by VPBank is currently offering an additional 2.2% per annum for first-time savers, making the total potential interest rate reach 9.6% for standard and cumulative deposits ranging from 100,000 VND for terms of 6 to 13 months.
VPBank is also enhancing its rates, with potential increases of up to 2.5% for deposits ranging from 1 million to 300 million VND for terms between 1 to 24 months, subject to eligibility criteria.
These competitive rates reflect the banks' efforts to attract more customers in a challenging economic environment. It is advisable for potential savers to contact their nearest bank branch or hotline for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding interest rates.
