Dak Nong starts work on VND1.7-trillion wind farm

HCMC – The Asia Dak Song 1 wind farm project got off the ground in Dak Song District in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong on January 4, with a total investment of nearly VND1.7 trillion, making it the sixth in the province.

The wind farm project is set to have a total designed capacity of 50 megawatts and 13 wind turbines, the local media reported.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Le Trong Yen, vice chairman of Dak Nong Province, said that the project, whose investor is Asia Energy Company, would contribute to the province’s socio-economic growth, and provide jobs to workers and power for the national energy grid after its completion.

The vice chairman told the investor to focus on mobilizing manpower and equipment to ensure the project’s progress, and follow all relevant procedures on construction, land, site clearance and compensation.

The Asia Dak Song 1 wind farm project got approval for construction from the provincial government in November 2020. The wind farm is set to start operating in December 2024 and generate 173,000 MWh of electricity annually.

Asia Energy Company, an arm of Thailand’s Super Energy Group, has tapped the Vietnamese market in the renewable energy field since 2017. The project is its fifth in Vietnam.
