Bosch opens ‘Bosch Transmission Lab’ at HCMUTE
The 90,000 euros (around VND2.5 billion) lab is intended to support research projects, in the field of future mobility. The facility is equipped with Continuously Variable Transmission models and test benches, a practice room for intensive research, and other supporting teaching and training tools and machinery.
This collaboration will also see experienced engineers from Bosch comes on board as mentors to students in their training and research development besides conducting knowledge exchange sessions in the form of talks and seminars. Additionally, students of HCMUTE are also open to interning at Bosch. This underscores Bosch’s commitment to developing talent and innovation in the region.
“Education is our priority, and the young generation is at the heart of Bosch’s development strategy,” said Guru Mallikarjuna, managing director of Bosch Vietnam. “By investing in educational programs in general and the laboratories at HCMUTE and HCMUT, Bosch aims to create sufficient and competent human resources in the next centuries. Bosch Vietnam will not only foster university-industry collaborations at key institutions in the cities but will also aim to facilitate even more collaborative educational projects with neighboring universities.”
Over the years, the Automotive & Supporting Industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and Vietnam. Hence, the demand for specialist engineers is increasingly prioritized for recruitment in corporations, joint ventures, factories, and automobile factories around the world. HCMUTE is gradually scaling up enrollment for students in the Automotive Industry sector, meeting the needs of the labor market, and at the same time opening thousands of attractive career opportunities for students.
Prof. Dr. Hoang An Quoc, Head of Science Technology and International Affairs Office, HCMUTE, said: "The success of this project illustrates an enormous potential for cooperation between Bosch and the HCMUTE talent pool in the future. The lab will lay the basis for a hands-on learning environment and a comprehensive training program for both students and faculty members, along with a career development path for high-level technical engineers.”
This is not the first time that Bosch has collaborated with a Vietnamese university. On 21 April 2022, the company sponsored Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) with a Bosch Automotive Lab equipped with continuously variable transmission (CVT) and fuel level sensor (FLS) test benches, accelerating the application of lab-scale technologies to real-world problems, thus, boosting local innovations efforts.
