Israel Deploys Submarine Near Houthi Bases

Israel has recently deployed a Dolphin-class submarine near Houthi bases, enhancing its naval capabilities in the region. This strategic move enables the Israeli Navy to react quickly to threats posed by the Iranian-aligned Houthi forces in Yemen.

According to reports from Defense Network, Israel is also considering establishing a naval presence at the Berbera port in Somalia. This potential relationship would allow the Israeli Navy to utilize the port for deploying its submarines, providing a significant advantage in monitoring Houthi activities in the Gulf of Aden and the southern Red Sea.

At least one Dolphin-class submarine has already been stationed in the Persian Gulf to counter potential escalations from Iran. These submarines are equipped to protect Israel's offshore gas rigs and control vital shipping routes in the Mediterranean Sea.

The strategic location of Berbera port, facing Yemen, could facilitate Israel's surveillance operations against Houthi forces. The Somali leadership has welcomed Israeli investments and has opened its port, although there has been no official confirmation regarding a permanent deployment of Dolphin submarines.

Furthermore, the Dolphin-class submarines are capable of launching various missiles, including the Popeye Turbo cruise missile developed by Israel, which has an estimated range of at least 1,500 kilometers. The presence of Israeli submarines in the region will likely compel Houthi fighters to exercise greater caution in their operations, as any attack could be met with an immediate response.

This development occurs amidst ongoing tensions in the Middle East, highlighting the strategic maneuvers by Israel to secure its interests and counter threats from hostile groups.
