Explore Vinh Hy “The Mediterranean of Ninh Thuan”

Some websites have called this place the "Mediterranean of Ninh Thuan". If you have never been and have doubts about this title, first discover Vinh Hy Bay to have your own experience.

Vinh Hy Bay is a bay located in Vinh Hy village, northeast of Ninh Thuan province, about 42 km from Phan Rang - Thap Cham city, in Vinh Hai commune, Ninh Hai district, Ninh Thuan province. Previously, Vinh Hy was just a fishing village; over the years, it has developed into a tourist fishing village with many activities such as setting fire on the island, night squid fishing, scuba diving, and glass-bottom boat trips to see corals,.. In addition to sightseeing and taking photos, visitors can also walk on the smooth sand, let their souls follow the sea breeze, enjoy seafood with bold flavors of the sea here, and enjoy the atmosphere of the sea full of sunshine and wind.

Vinh Hy Bay has 3 sides, East - West - North, surrounded by mountains, and the Southeast face is the mouth of the Bay. In particular, to the west of the Bay is Chua Mountain, 1,040 m high above sea level, and the Lo O stream flows all year round into the Bay. Vinh Hy Bay is home to many seafood species that can be used for food, such as grouper, snapper, mackerel, tuna, lobster, crab, squid... Boats are safe when there is a storm.

In 2020, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ranked Vinh Hy Bay as a national monument. The Bay has pristine beaches, white sand, clear blue sea and rich coral reefs, and is considered to have a rich and diverse ecological environment with mountains, forests, national parks, flora and fauna.

Legend of Vinh Hy Bay

Before being recognized as a scenic spot, Vinh Hy Bay also had other names, such as Vinh Hy Lagoon and Vung Gang. In particular, Vung Gang is associated with a legend passed on by many locals orally. It is said that once upon a time, a fisherman named Vinh Hy used to fish in the Bay. One late night with a bright moon, he went fishing and saw a fairy bathing in the Bay. Infatuated with her beauty, he approached her to get acquainted. The fairy fell in love with him, so the two quickly fell in love. They live together very happily in Vung Gang.

But the happiness of the young couple did not last long. One day, when Vinh Hy went fishing on the cliffs of the Bay, the sky got angry because she had been down for so long that a fierce storm caused a landslide. Waiting forever not to see her husband back, she went to the top of the mountain of God to wait for news of her husband and then cried and called his name. Her tears flowed down to form the Lo O stream, still rushing day and night into the Bay. Since then, Vung Gang has been called Vinh Hy by the people here to commemorate the fisherman.

Vinh Hy Bay today is a place that has yet to be exploited and commercialized. Over the years, it has been an attractive destination for tourists at home and abroad because of its wild and poetic features. Looking down from Vinh Hy - Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) road, you will see the Bay lying in the heart of the rolling mountains coincident with Lo O waterfall day and night pouring down into the Bay like a soft white silk strip. The beautiful scenery of charming mountains, the sea, the sky and the water will make the fatigue and worries of tourists disappear, leaving only a feeling of refreshment and relief.
