Exhibition showcases tigers in ancient Vietnamese art
The exhibition is taking place at 1 Trang Tien, Hanoi until August 31
HANOI – New Year will be more meaningful when going to exhibitions to better understand the traditional Tet.
During Tet, if not going far, Hanoians can visit the exhibitions around Hanoi to enjoy the spring atmosphere as well as admire the works of art. These exhibitions are all related to Tet, helping visitors have a closer look at the most important holiday of the year for Vietnamese people.
Tiger in ancient Vietnamese art
The exhibition “Tigers in ancient Vietnamese art” is organized by the National Museum of History in collaboration with the Hung Temple Historic Site and a number of private collections to be displayed at No. 1 Trang Tien, Hanoi. from January 18 to August 31. Visiting the exhibition at the beginning of the year, visitors will understand more about the tiger, the mascot of the year of the Tiger.
The exhibition features more than 30 artifacts and documents about tiger images in different periods of 2,000 years of Vietnamese art. The displays of images of tigers transforming in history have shown the deep closeness between Vietnamese people with nature and all species, especially even with tigers, which are considered a fierce beasts in legends.
Is it still Tet?
The works on display at the “Still Tet” exhibition were all created in 2021, a tumultuous year. The exhibition has been postponed several times over the past year, but has since been held, with works that still show the spirit of optimism and joy of life, bringing jubilant spring colors to welcome the year of the Tiger.
Participating artists include: Vu Van Tich, Khong Do Duy, Chu Quoc Binh, Trinh Lu, Nguyen Van Trinh, Chu Tien Thang, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Lo Thuong and Nguyen Tien Quang. Each artist will bring a line of paintings with diverse materials, from lacquer, oil paint, pastels, watercolor on paper and silk.
Spring colors
The exhibition “Spring Spring” includes 20 sets of paintings, including the topics: Four Quarters, To Nu, Four Peoples, Eight Fairy, comics and historical paintings selected from the collection of folk paintings being kept at the museum. Vietnam Art Museum. These are all sets of paintings that are often hung in the house at the beginning of the new year, suitable for learning about Tet, like a wish for a peaceful spring for the visiting public.
The exhibition is open until the end of February at the thematic gallery, Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc.
Old New Year
The public participating in the exhibition “Old Tet” will experience the traditional Tet days vividly reproduced through more than 100 versions of unique and rare documents and images about Tet. The exhibition also organizes interactive activities for visitors such as the Tet market, asking for the word Mr. Do… to make the spring day fresher.
The exhibition is open to the public from January 14 to March 15 at the exhibition area of the National Archives Center 1, No. 5 Vu Pham Ham, Yen Hoa, Cau Giay, Hanoi.
Bewildered – Drowsy – Bewildered – Red
The interactive exhibition “Bewildered – Drowsy – Bewildered – Red” is where traditional identities are present, drawing viewers on a journey to find emotions with the beauty of the old New Year. Coming to the exhibition, visitors will answer the question “Will the memories of New Year’s Day remain intact in each of us?”
The exhibition is open to the public from February 1 to 10 at Nga Art Space – Split Spaces, 20 Hai Ba Trung.
