On the afternoon of December 25 (January 27), the domestic terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport was crowded with passengers. At the check-in area of airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, Bamboo…, people queued up to go home to celebrate Tet.

Right at the entrance to the airport, there is a long line of cars carrying passengers home to celebrate Tet. Security forces constantly stream the flow of vehicles, guiding passengers to cross the street.

Many times, people going to the airport are crowded, leading to congestion at the entrance to the domestic terminal. Customers are arranged through many layers, tens of meters long, waiting in line to go to the counter and through the security check area.

The area to support medical declaration at the entrance is crowded with people to carry out epidemic prevention procedures. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Transport, guests must make a medical declaration using the PC-Covid application. Passengers will not be allowed to fly when they have symptoms of cough, fever, shortness of breath, muscle aches, sore throat, loss of taste.

Many people wear extra protective gear when going to the airport.

Mr. Vien was carrying his luggage, waiting to be checked in on the flight to Vinh City, Nghe An. “Normally I only go 2 hours in advance, but now I have to leave earlier. I waited in line for almost an hour to complete the procedure, but it still hasn’t finished,” he said.

Passengers who did not check in with their luggage waited in line at the automatic check-in counters, and the ticket machines were operating at full capacity.

At the entrance to the check-in place, airline staff Ta Van Thinh (left) constantly instructs guests on the latest regulations when boarding. “For more than this week, the airport is always crowded, especially in the morning and afternoon. Many passengers are confused, or ask for advice on epidemic prevention regulations,” Mr. Thinh said.

Waiting for a long time made many adults and children tired to lie on the floor.

The child lies on the parent’s suitcase while waiting in line to get a ticket and check-in.

The night of January 27 and the early morning of January 28 (26 lunar calendars), the number of tourists flocking to the domestic terminal area of Tan Son Nhat airport (HCMC) was crowded, thousands of people lined up and crowded in the area. departure lobby to wait for check-in for the plane.

As noted by PV, around 3 am, the flow of cars and taxis from outside poured into the area in front of the crowded domestic terminal hall, people carrying armpits and luggage to enter the airport.

Inside the D lobby area of Tan Son Nhat airport, passengers stood in long queues in the waiting lanes in front of the security check area.

More than 3 am, the number of passengers continues to flock to the airport and there is no sign of abating.

Many people arrived early to check-in because the queue was too large, so some people had to wait outside in the corridor.

The online check-in area of an airline for passengers without checked baggage is operating at full capacity, with no space left, causing many people to wait in long lines for their turn.

In addition, the QR code scanning area for medical declaration was also full, people lined up in the airport lobby to wait for medical declaration.

In the case of families with young children, airlines give priority to a separate section to facilitate check-in.

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Loan (living in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City) took a nap in a corner of the lobby because she arrived too early. Ms. Loan said, near Tet, but her maternal hometown in Bac Giang had an urgent business, so she took advantage of returning to her hometown to visit her family.

“Flighted at 7am, but I woke up at 3am to go out and wait for early check-in. I was afraid of crowded customers, difficult to check in, so I went out 4 hours earlier, who expected it to be extremely crowded. Had to sit and wait to see. Will it be less crowded in the morning before going in to do the procedures?”, Ms. Loan.

Many cases came as early as Ms. Loan but managed to find a chair to wait and take a nap before the procedure.

It is not difficult to see people sleeping in many corners at Tan Son Nhat airport terminal these days. Many people were late for their flight, had problems with boarding procedures, and many guests arrived too early because they were worried about being late, so they had to sleep and wait until the flight time.

At 6 am, the number of passengers still flocking to the domestic terminal of Tan Son Nhat airport was crowded, waiting in long queues for check-in.

This is a common situation at Tan Son Nhat airport in the last days of the year when people’s demand to return to their hometown to celebrate Tet increases dramatically.

In the days leading up to Tet, the roads leading to the airport, such as Hoang Van Thu, Cong Hoa, Truong Son, etc., are often congested due to increased travel demand.

According to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, on January 27, there are expected to be 706 departures and arrivals with nearly 63,000 passengers, of which nearly 53,000 depart and nearly 10,000 arrive. This number of visitors is only about 50% compared to Tet last year.

From January 23 to February 16, the aviation industry is expected to provide 2.85 million seats and 13,400 flights. Recently, the Civil Aviation Administration has decided to increase to 3.2 million seats and 15,300 flights, up 13% compared to Tet last year. This unit suggested airlines increase night flights to reduce the airport load.
