Whatever other people say, ignore them!
But the food at Mang Den is really good, and of course, my heart is fine, it’s okay =)))
I went out in a very enjoying state, very wholeheartedly, despite the rain and wind, being tired, waking up early. Sleepy, sleep at home, go to Mang Den and sleep until 8-9 o’clock before going out, what else to say. So every morning, I see my 3 brothers get up early, leave the homestay earliest, stay in the Sunshine homestay with soft instrumental music all day, rain all day, it sounds like I want to go to sleep. But we have to play, we have to drag this body to eat again, it’s cold and hungry.
Here is my list of food in Mang Den, don’t miss any dishes, eat it all, it’s not a pity.
Snakehead fish soup AkayThis is the first dish I eat when coming to Mang Den. It was cold, the drizzle was quite thick, we swooped into the restaurant and felt warm because the pot of cake soup was smoking and hot. A special feature of Mang Den snakehead fish cake soup is to cook each pot directly on the stove and then bring it out to guests, thus keeping it warm for a long time, like eating its own mini hot pot. Each pot has a very large piece of snakehead fish. There are two types of cake: rice flour and tapioca flour, soft and chewy, but all are delicious. There is a basket of bitter vegetables with small stalks, just boldly drop them in when the pot of soup is hot, delicious and sobbing. Very cheap, 25k / 1 pot.
2. Grilled Chicken with Lam Co Sinh
Let me tell you a story to see the smallness of Mang Den: when we went out from Dak Ke lake through Pa Sy waterfall to the orange garden, we met 2 young people, 3 more brothers, 5 people, stayed together 1 homestay (discovered by wearing a striking Pikachu hat). When we were bored and dragged out to eat grilled chicken rice, we met 2 friends again at the shop. The two friends told the mandarins to sit at the table with us, we ordered a chicken and rice. I say so so that you guys can order more hot pot fish with bitter gourd, eat together for fun. 2 friends live on Ly Son island, this time going around the Central Highlands, going from Dak Nong to Buon Me, to Mang Den, to Kon Tum. Both are younger than us, male friends are very diligent in taking pictures for female friends. Talking for a while, my brother also discovered that he had a mutual acquaintance with 2 friends outside Ly Son island.
I told my siblings to invite us to this meal and then go to pay. My girlfriend is afraid to tell me to share money. In the end, the two of you charged me for this chocolate tomato box, and the next day before I left, I also sent a box of delicious macadamia nuts.
It’s just a long story, but Co Sinh’s grilled chicken with lam rice is really delicious.
3. Mang Den pepper hotpot
The restaurant is famous in Mang Den, the most famous is hot pot. The menu is simple, you can order more fried spring rolls, chicken bamboo shoot salad (delicious). However, if you are going for 2 people, focusing on eating hot pot is enough. The pot is divided into 2 compartments, the spicy side is normal. I can normally eat spicy food, but when I touch the hot pot through pepper, I also say hello, mixing 2 compartments of water is delicious, just spicy enough. Driving a cold car, the more I sat down to eat hot pot, I said it was already.
The shop does not sell alcohol, everyone focuses on eating hot pot, I will only give you a place to drink later =)))
4. Dad’s Kitchen Beef Hotpot
But in this 15 degree weather of Mang Den, you will not want to eat a cold dish. You have to sit and slurp hot and spicy hot pot. So I pulled out my phone to look. Dad’s kitchen – the restaurant’s name sounds so cute. Selling braised beef in the morning and selling beef hot pot in the afternoon. Okay okay. They all decided to try it right away. The shop is located right near the famous A Kay snakehead fish soup (must try when coming to Mang Den). Decorated with warm yellow lights, neat and clean tables and chairs. Another impression is that the owner is pretty, her voice is cute. She asked us if we ate well, any suggestions. The shop has only been open for sale for 10 days and has not yet been located on google maps. We went 4 people to eat 1 beef hot pot 250k. The hot pot sauce cooked in the clay pot is extremely delicious, rich, and the beef is fatty and fragrant. It’s raining and windy outside while eating hot pot, I say it’s RED =)))
5. Other dishes: Sturgeon hot pot, two bowls of dry noodle soup: all located in the town center, easy to find. But because these 2 dishes are not very special, so I would like to not review.
6. Nice cafe in Mang Den
- If you want a cool mountain view with many photo angles, please visit Orfarm. This place has garden orange juice, coffee, cocktails. If you have a long way to go, you should stop by on the way to Pa Sy waterfall.
- La petite : nice view bar, nice bar, beer, wine and coffee.
- Moc Lan cafe : a pretty and interesting little shop.
Cons of some cafes on Mang Den in my opinion: bad coffee.
7. Thien Son sim wine
As believers of alcoholic beverages, we are the most diligent, when learning about Mang Den, we noted in our schedule to buy sim wine at Thien Son sim wine factory. 1 bottle of wine and go to the factory =))) Saying that, let’s not buy 1 bottle of wine, 1 bottle of sim fruit juice, 1 jar of Mang Den salt and pepper. These things can be bought as gifts, you can find them on google maps, the factory campus has beautiful myrtle and flowers.
To drink sim wine in the right way, just go to Mang Den market, the afternoon is still full of fish and meat, buy more corn and potatoes to the homestay around 8 am to gather around the oven group. Wine in, stories out, telling thousands of life stories after years of separation between friends and brothers. Mang Den restaurant in the evening closes early and also sells less, just buy ready-made food like us, warm and happy, regardless of wind and rain.

8. Sticky fish with bamboo shoots
The 3rd time I went to Kon Tum, I was able to eat sticky rice with bamboo shoots according to the review of Mr. Khoai Lang Thang . What’s the name of the dish: sticky rice + braised bamboo shoots + braised scad. Add more hot chili peppers, it’s cold to eat while rubbing. 15k sticky rice to eat until noon. The shop has no signboard, no luxurious tables and chairs, sold for more than 40 years on the sidewalk near Kon Tum Market.
Just little plastic chairs around the table. She sold the goods quickly, asked the customer’s order and then scooped up the sticky rice porridge. So sucking goods from the elderly to children. The baby tied 2 pigtails while eating and said her mother “she wears pink glasses and keeps looking at me smiling” =))) The sticky rice has tens of thousands of dollars but the taxi ride is 100k. Kon Tum is near Christmas, it’s cold and numb, eating anything is delicious.
9. Leaf salad
Another dish according to my husband’s words – Khoai Lang Thang reviewed, ahihi. Because I said following an idol to create a cheap moment is very motivating. This dish is very strange, the ingredients include 3 main things: leaf tray + filling + dipping sauce.
The tray of leaves is full of vcl even though we only dare to order 1 serving to let us know the taste. Some types are only available in the Central Highlands, such as brooch leaves, red prongs, bear bile, bamboo leaves, great compassion, etc. or easier-to-find leaves such as bunches of intestines, five houseplants, fig leaves, guava leaves , mango leaves, cloves, crab claws, perilla, apricot leaves, cabbage leaves… (Channel 14), about dozens of different kinds of leaves.
The filling is available: pork skin, pork, shrimp
Kon Tum’s own special dipping sauce is made from fermented glutinous rice and incubated with dried shrimp, bacon and then pureed with batches, satay and other spices.
To eat this dish, you choose vegetables, a few stalks of each type, roll into a funnel, then pick up the filling, add chili, pepper, salt, finally, pour the dipping sauce on top, open your mouth wide. and chew hard. Remember, don’t be shy but take a few small bites, open your mouth wide, chew it all once.
My feeling is that this dish is quite strange due to the combination of many types of leaves, worth a try. However, maybe it’s not as rich as I wanted, so I’ll just try it out.
