Nguyen Thi Oanh, a prominent athlete in Vietnam, showcased her remarkable talent once again by winning the women's half marathon at the Techcombank Hanoi International Marathon held on October 4, 2026. This victory marks her first championship title since competing in the 20th Asian Games (ASIAD 20).
Competing in the 21-kilometer race, Oanh finished with an impressive time of 1 hour, 21 minutes, and 44 seconds, easily outrunning her closest competitor, Bui Thi Thu Ha, who came in second with a time of 1 hour, 24 minutes, and 53 seconds. Oanh's performance demonstrated her dominance in the sport, as she faced little challenge from other competitors.
Prior to this victory, Oanh participated in the ASIAD 20 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, where she competed in the women's 10,000 meters but finished in sixth place with a time of 33 minutes, 44 seconds. After the Asian Games, Oanh expressed her emotions on social media, indicating that this was her final appearance at the Asian Games in her athletic career.
Alongside Oanh, fellow athlete Nguyen Trung Cuong also participated in the half marathon, finishing second in the men's category with a time of 1 hour, 14 minutes, and 40 seconds. The winner of the men's race was Japan's Saeki Makino, who clocked in at 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 54 seconds.
Oanh's recent win not only highlights her exceptional skills but also her resilience as she continues to represent Vietnam in international athletics.
