Police in Phu Tho Help Recover 140.2 Million VND Sent by Mistake

The police in Thanh Son, Phu Tho province, recently helped a resident recover 140.2 million VND that was mistakenly transferred to her bank account. On September 27, Tran Thi Thuan, born in 1981, reported to the police that her bank account had unexpectedly received this amount on September 25, with the transaction noted as 'NOP TIEN; Tai Quay'.

Unaware of the sender or the origin of the funds, Thuan proactively approached the police for assistance in identifying the rightful owner of the money. Following her report, the police collaborated with the Thanh Son transaction office of VietinBank to investigate the transaction.

Through their investigation, they identified the sender as Nguyen Thi Oanh, born in 1984, from Hong Gai ward in Quang Ninh province. Oanh explained that she had accidentally omitted a digit in the account number during the transaction, leading to the funds being sent to Thuan's account.

While Oanh was anxious about retrieving her money, the police facilitated communication between her and Thuan. After confirming the details, the police guided both parties through the process of returning the funds. On September 29, Thuan successfully returned the full amount of 140.2 million VND to Oanh.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of careful attention to detail in financial transactions and the role of law enforcement in resolving such issues.
