Tax Authority Reviews 108 Companies for Illegal Invoices

The Tax Authority of Thai Nguyen has taken significant steps to address issues related to illegal invoices by requesting a thorough review of 108 companies. This action follows a directive from the General Department of Taxation, which highlighted the need for scrutiny regarding the use of invoices deemed illegal.

According to the official communication dated September 22, 2026, businesses and organizations are urged to examine their transactions involving the listed companies. If any transactions have taken place, they must submit a written explanation along with all relevant documentation, including purchase and sale contracts, value-added tax invoices, delivery notes, and payment receipts.

In cases where no transactions have occurred, companies are required to formally commit and assume responsibility before the law regarding their declarations. The deadline for submitting these documents to the Tax Authority is set for October 5, 2026. Should companies fail to respond by this date, they will be considered as having no transactions with the listed entities, thus not utilizing any illegal invoices.

The Tax Authority has also outlined specific scenarios that constitute the use of illegal invoices. These include the use of counterfeit invoices, invoices that are no longer valid, or invoices used while the issuing entity is under suspension. Furthermore, using electronic invoices that are not registered with the tax authority or lack the necessary codes is also classified as illegal.

This initiative aims to enhance compliance and transparency in the business sector, ensuring that all companies adhere to legal invoicing practices. The Tax Authority has emphasized that any discrepancies found during future audits will hold companies accountable under the law.
