A new political coalition in Venezuela, known as the Alliance for Venezuela (Ave), has emerged, demanding free, fair, and verifiable presidential elections. The coalition, which consists of nine political and social organizations, has announced Maria Corina Machado, a prominent opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize nominee, as their candidate.

During the launch of the coalition, spokesperson Noel Álvarez emphasized the urgency of establishing a clear electoral timeline to facilitate the election of a new president. "The fundamental point we are demanding is the early realization of presidential elections, a schedule that establishes a definite date for the designation of the new president of the republic, and I can say openly: Maria Corina Machado will be our candidate," he stated.

The coalition's document specifically calls for the lifting of arbitrary disqualifications that prevent Machado from running, as well as the appointment of an impartial National Electoral Council (CNE), which is currently led by officials aligned with the ruling party. They argue that true democracy cannot exist while any Venezuelan suffers in the dungeons of repression.

In addition, the coalition is advocating for the unconditional release of all political prisoners, both civilian and military, and for an end to torture and harassment. Álvarez noted that the Ave will work in the coming days to reinstate the country's institutions, enable all candidates, and open the electoral registry to allow migrants to vote freely.

"The process at this moment must be among Venezuelans; the decision and everything that comes out of it must be Venezuelan, where we are all represented," Álvarez added, highlighting the coalition's commitment to restoring democratic processes in Venezuela.
