
Vietnam has recently welcomed the world's largest chip assembly and testing plant, a project by Intel that underscores the country’s growing importance in the global technology landscape. Established in Ho Chi Minh City, this facility has been pivotal in Intel's operations since its inauguration in 2010, following the groundbreaking in 2006.
Over the past two decades, Intel Products Vietnam (IPV) has evolved into a crucial component of Intel's global network, employing around 6,500 high-tech workers. Initially, Intel invested $1.5 billion in the facility, which has now increased to a total commitment of $4.1 billion. This expansion reflects Intel's long-term commitment to Vietnam and its strategic importance in the semiconductor industry.
Since its establishment, IPV has shipped over 4 billion products worldwide, contributing more than $110 billion in export value. In 2025 alone, the plant is expected to achieve an export value of approximately $11.67 billion, accounting for 57% of the total export turnover of Ho Chi Minh City's High-Tech Park and about 12% of the city's overall export figures. Looking ahead, IPV aims to reach an export milestone of around $14.6 billion in 2026.
Beyond economic contributions, IPV has played a vital role in developing local talent, training nearly 10,000 engineers and technical specialists. The plant has also facilitated the growth of over 600 local suppliers, enhancing Vietnam's position in the global supply chain.
During a recent celebration marking IPV's 20th anniversary, the Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City acknowledged Intel's significant contributions to the city's socio-economic development. He emphasized that the impressive figures are not just economic achievements but also a testament to the strong partnership between Intel and the city.
The city government remains committed to supporting Intel's operations, ensuring a conducive environment for further expansion. This collaboration is seen as a strategic partnership that not only focuses on investment but also fosters innovation and development in the future.
