On August 16, the crew of the Navy ship 743, part of Brigade 129, conducted a successful rescue operation for a fisherman who had been adrift in the waters off Vung Tau. The man, identified as 46-year-old Truong Van Trung from An Giang province, had fallen overboard while fishing on August 12 and had been lost at sea for four days.
At approximately 6 PM, while operating about 150 kilometers from the Thang Long oil rig, the crew spotted Trung floating amidst large waves. They quickly deployed a lifebuoy and used a towing line to bring him aboard the ship, a process that took about an hour.
Upon rescue, Trung was found to be in a severely weakened state, suffering from hunger and exhaustion. The Navy's medical personnel provided immediate first aid, offering him water and rice porridge to help him regain strength. Currently, Trung is receiving care aboard ship 743, where he is resting and recovering.
This incident highlights the commitment and readiness of the Navy in ensuring the safety of fishermen at sea, especially in challenging weather conditions.
