On August 16, 2026, the Coast Guard Command of Region 4 discovered and seized a vessel transporting around 130,000 liters of diesel oil without proper documentation. The operation took place approximately 90 nautical miles southwest of Hon Khoai, Ca Mau Province.
At around 12:30 AM, the Coast Guard patrol vessel 360 identified the suspicious vessel, TG 914xx-TS, and initiated a check. The vessel was manned by five crew members, led by captain Ho Hong Diep, born in 1971, from Tan Dien commune, Dong Thap province. During the inspection, Diep admitted that the ship was carrying the diesel oil without any invoices or documents proving its legal origin.
The authorities proceeded to document the incident, seal the cargo, and escort the vessel to Hai Doi 422 port in Phu Quoc, An Giang Province, for further investigation and legal action as per regulations.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Vietnamese authorities to combat illegal oil transportation and ensure compliance with maritime laws. The Coast Guard continues to enhance patrols in the region to prevent such violations.
