On August 7, 2026, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that water levels in the Red River basin are experiencing significant changes. The water level of the Thao River, a main tributary of the Red River, is currently rising at the Yên Bái station in Lào Cai province and the Phú Thọ station.

As of 7 AM on August 7, the recorded water level at the Yên Bái station was 27.76 meters, while at the Phú Thọ station, it was 14.00 meters. Predictions indicate that these levels will continue to rise in the coming hours.

Meanwhile, the Lô River is seeing a decrease in water levels at the Tuyên Quang and Vụ Quang stations due to reduced rainfall in the upper basin. The Tuyên Quang hydropower reservoir is currently maintaining one bottom outlet open. The recorded water level at Tuyên Quang was 17.27 meters, and at Vụ Quang, it was 10.38 meters.

For the Đà River, inflow to the Hòa Bình reservoir is fluctuating according to the hydroelectric regulation. At 7 AM on August 7, the water level of Hòa Bình reservoir was noted at 46.73 meters.

In the lower reaches of the Red River, the water level at the Hà Nội hydrological station is also on the rise. As of 7 AM, it was recorded at 4.86 meters, with expectations of continued increases over the next 24 to 36 hours, influenced by the hydroelectric regulation from upstream reservoirs, including Hòa Bình and Tuyên Quang.
