Vinh Long is on the brink of becoming a new growth center in the Mekong Delta after merging with Ben Tre and Tra Vinh. This merger not only expands its geographical boundaries but also offers a unique opportunity to restructure its development model, positioning Vinh Long as a pivotal player in the region's economic landscape.
The province is focusing on creating modern, synchronized urban areas that can attract residents, businesses, and strategic investments. With a new planning orientation, Vinh Long aims to enhance its role as a central hub connecting various economic corridors, integrating river and coastal economies, and linking inland areas with coastal regions.
Several strategic infrastructure projects are underway, including major highways and inter-regional transport links, which will significantly reduce travel times to Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and other key economic centers. These developments are expected to facilitate higher growth targets, with local officials projecting an average GRDP growth of approximately 10% per year from 2025 to 2030.
According to Dang Van Chinh, the Vice Chairman of the Vinh Long People's Committee, urban development is not merely a planning goal but a crucial development strategy. The aim is to create well-planned urban areas that enhance living standards, stimulate innovation, and increase the region's competitiveness.
Experts suggest that the successful transformation of Vinh Long will depend on its ability to attract high-quality urban projects that meet housing demands while also drawing skilled labor and investment. The province's recent collaboration with T&T Group on urban projects is seen as a positive step towards achieving these goals.
The ability to attract strategic investors is a key indicator of the quality and appeal of Vinh Long's development space. Notable investments from capable urban development firms and international brands in management and services are viewed as encouraging signs. The presence of Hilton at the Phuoc Tho residential project exemplifies how modern urban areas can foster high-quality service ecosystems.
As Vinh Long strives to redefine its urban landscape, the focus remains on creating integrated, well-planned urban areas that not only enhance the local economy but also improve the quality of life for residents. This approach is anticipated to elevate Vinh Long's status within the Mekong Delta, showcasing the potential of urbanization as a catalyst for regional growth.
