Mexico Returns Expensive Watches After World Cup Victory

The Mexican national football team recently found themselves in a complicated situation following their 2-0 victory against Ecuador in the World Cup 2026. Just hours after the match, the team was required to return a collection of luxury Rolex watches, each valued between $30,000 and $70,000, which had been gifted by American content creator Steve WillDoIt.

On July 1, after their win, Steve WillDoIt, who boasts nearly 4 million followers on social media, presented the team with the watches as a reward for their performance. The total value of the gifts exceeded $1 million. The players were excited to choose their favorite watches, and images of the event quickly spread across social media platforms.

However, the joy of receiving such lavish gifts was short-lived. The Mexican Football Federation announced that the entire team had agreed to return the watches to WillDoIt. The decision was made in light of FIFA's strict ethical guidelines, which prohibit players, referees, and officials from accepting gifts or benefits outside of authorized channels. Violating these rules could lead to financial penalties or disciplinary actions.

In a statement, the federation emphasized that the decision was reached collectively by the players and the gift-giver, highlighting the importance of adhering to FIFA regulations. After resolving this issue, Mexico is now focusing on their upcoming match against England at the Azteca Stadium on July 6, where the winner will advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

Despite concerns about the weather in Mexico City, FIFA has confirmed that the kickoff time for the Mexico vs. England match will remain unchanged. The Mexican coach, Javier Aguirre, expressed frustration over the scheduling, stating that it could disrupt their preparation plans.
