The results of the negotiation on electricity prices for the transitional renewable energy projects (updated by June 28)

Regarding the status of acceptance of documents, the results of negotiations, approval of electricity prices, signing of the power purchase agreement (PPA) and acceptance of the transitional wind and solar power projects, the Vietnam Energy Magazine will state the data updated by the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) on the morning of June 28, 2023, for the reference of its readers.
As of the morning of June 28, 2023, there were 13 projects/a part of the transitional renewable energy plant with a total capacity of 640.52 MW that have completed the procedures for recognition of commercial operation date (COD) and generated to the power grid. The cumulative power generation output of transitional renewable energy projects from the time of COD on June 26 was about 68.6 million kWh and the average daily power output was about 3.2 million kWh per day, accounting for about 0.4% of the total mobilized power generation output.
Up to now, there were 70/85 transitional renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 3,851.86 MW have submitted documents to the Power Trading Company to negotiate electricity prices and PPA. Among these, 59 projects with a total capacity of 3,211.41 MW have proposed temporary prices equal to 50% of the ceiling prices in the price framework (according to Decision No. 21/QD-BCT dated January 7, 2023 of MOIT). EVN and the investors have completed the price negotiation and signed PPA with 57/59 projects. In which, MOIT has approved temporary prices for 51 projects.
Currently, there are 19 projects that competent State management agencies have accepted for projects/parts of projects, 27 projects have been granted electricity operation licenses for the projects/parts of the projects and 37 projects have decided to extend the investment policy. However, there are still 15 projects with a total capacity of 882.70 MW that have not been submitted for negotiation. The editorial board of the Vietnam Energy Magazine will continue to monitor and update the situation of the negotiation on the electricity prices for the transitional wind and solar power projects with the new data appearance.
