Vietnam is still searching for strange and expensive chili peppers

Sweet Palermo is consumed directly as a fruit

Upon hearing chili peppers, many people immediately think of their aromatic and spicy taste, or if it's sweet peppers, they have a pungent smell used for frying vegetables. Few people can eat one pound at a time, like fruits.
But recently, in the online market, sweet Palermo peppers (also known as sweet horn peppers or fruit peppers) have suddenly been purchased by many hunters.
Because according to the advertisement, it tastes very crispy and tastes as sweet as fruit. Therefore, it does not require complex processing and can be consumed directly like ordinary fruits.
However, the price of this chili is quite high. For example, Sweet Palermo mini peppers cost 130,000-150,000 VND/kg, twice as expensive as bell peppers.

As for Sweet Palermo chili, the price is from 180,000-250,000 VND/kg, depending on the color. Sweet Palermo peppers are grown a lot in Lam Dong Province.
This sweet chili has 4 colors; the chocolate color is the most expensive. Chocolate-colored chili peppers up to 250,000 VND/kg are still difficult to buy due to scarce supply.
This chili can also be grilled, fried, salad, etc. However, homemakers often buy it and eat it directly. Some families even buy chili as a dessert after each meal.

The chili peppers of this group are a specialty of the people of Muong Te (Lai Chau Province). This type of chili is always very expensive. The price is high, but traders must be on duty daily to enter the sales line.
Ms. Tich from Thu Lum, Muong Be, and Lai Chau Province shared with readers: The villagers joked that due to the spiciness of chili peppers, a group of 1500 to 3000 people ate one chili pepper. In addition, this chili pepper has a special fragrance that will always be remembered by those who have tasted it once.

She said that her hometown has a tradition of growing these chili peppers. But each family only has a few trees to meet their family's needs. In the past few years, the following businessman has requested to purchase more chili peppers and sell them at a price, so her house and families in the area have started planting larger chili peppers.
But the yield of chili peppers is quite low. In which year is the harvest abundant, the yield is about 55-60 kilograms per Rod.
The price ranges from 250,000-300,000 VND/kg depending on the time.

The world's most expensive chili peppers are grown in Vietnam

Aji Charapita chili is known as the world's most expensive spice and is rarely cultivated on a large scale, making it even more precious and rare. Dan Viet News says it is popular in many high-end restaurants and among wealthy people worldwide.
In some countries, this chili pepper is sold to high-end restaurants at $25000 per kilogram. Even for a while, the price of Aji Charapita pepper was up to 35000 dollars per kilogram (equivalent to more than 820 million Vietnamese dongs).
This chili pepper, originating in northern Peru, is only the size of a pea. This chili pepper can be eaten raw or ground into powder for seasoning. When eaten raw, Aji Charapita chili peppers have a fresh fruit flavor, which helps to make the flavor of salads or sauces more innovative.
In Vietnam, some people imported Aji Charapita chili peppers from Europe and successfully planted them in their gardens in Central Highlands Vietnam.
