Four more airport employees positive for Covid-19
The National Steering Board for Covid-19 Prevention and Control this morning said that within 12 hours, the
HCMC – Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province began suspending its operations from this morning, January 28, until further notice to combat the coronavirus.
The airport is cooperating with competent agencies to conduct contact tracing and take the samples of all its employees for Covid-19 testing after a security staff tested positive for the virus.
The decision of the airport came after the Ministry of Health reported this morning that the 1,553rd Covid-19 patient, a 31-year-old male resident of Halong City, worked at the airport.
As many as 280 employees at the airport were identified as having contact with the patient, so they are being put under quarantine at healthcare facilities or at home in line with the prevailing regulations.
Of the total, 214 persons have had their samples taken for testing, while the rest will be tested tomorrow. In addition, the entire Van Don airport has been disinfected.
Following its suspension, all flights scheduled to depart from/to Van Don International Airport will be diverted to other airports today, the local media reported.
To support the efforts in the fight against the coronavirus in Quang Ninh Province, Sun Group will give the province 10,000 Covid-19 test kits worth VND6.5 billion.
