Vietnamese singer Le Quyen made a heartfelt appeal to dancers Khanh Thi and Phan Hien shortly before their scheduled flight to Europe for a competition. The request came just hours before their departure, highlighting the urgency of the situation as Le Quyen prepares to release her new music video, "If Only You Were Me," which she describes as a labor of love and a cherished memory of their friendship.

In an interview, Le Quyen shared that she had only five days to complete the music video before heading to the United States. Faced with time constraints, she reached out to her friends Khanh Thi and Phan Hien for help. Surprisingly, the couple had an even tighter schedule, as they were set to fly to Europe for training and competitions the next morning.

Khanh Thi recalled the moment, stating, "I remember that day around 9 PM, with only 3-4 hours left before we had to pack for the competition, but because we care for our friend, we decided to be there. Even though it was just a small part, we wanted to support Le Quyen." Upon arriving at the filming location, they were taken aback when Le Quyen suggested they perform on a wet dance floor, requiring them to adjust their choreography significantly due to the slippery conditions.

Khanh Thi explained that the music video format demands a deeper narrative and more concise movements than a typical stage performance. She noted, "On stage, I can perform for five minutes, running in and out with various movements. But for the music video, each frame lasts only a few seconds. Therefore, every move must be clear, almost like telling a story for the audience to understand immediately. The challenge was to achieve all of this in just a few hours."

Thanks to their talent and extensive experience, Khanh Thi and Phan Hien fulfilled their promise to Le Quyen without major issues. During the shoot, Phan Hien playfully teased Khanh Thi, who responded with a playful demeanor that brought laughter to the crew.

Le Quyen and Khanh Thi have known each other since their early days in Hanoi, both eager and passionate about their artistic careers. Over time, they have each achieved significant success in their respective fields, yet they continue to cherish and respect one another despite their busy lives and different artistic pursuits.

After witnessing her friends performing in the water and under artificial rain, Le Quyen felt a deep sense of gratitude and affection for them. Following the filming, she expressed her desire to nurture their beautiful friendship moving forward. The music video "If Only You Were Me" marks Le Quyen's return after more than a year since her last release, "Old Love Song 6." The song, composed by Hung Quan, features arrangements by Vinh Tam and production by Le Quang. The music video, filmed entirely underwater, is described by Le Quyen as depicting "a very beautiful sadness" and is set to be released on August 8.
