Foreign Investors Sell Off Nearly 800 Billion VND in Stocks
On July 27, foreign investors sold off nearly 800 billion VND in stocks, significantly impacting the market.

On September 8, foreign investors maintained their selling trend, resulting in a net sell-off of approximately 385 billion VND across the market. This selling pressure was particularly evident in the banking sector, where two major stocks were heavily impacted.
The VN-Index experienced some volatility during the morning session but managed to reverse course and close up by 8.8 points, finishing at 1,830 points. Trading activity remained robust, with total transaction value on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) exceeding 14 trillion VND.
Foreign investors were net sellers on HOSE, offloading around 399 billion VND worth of shares. Among the stocks that attracted the most buying interest was FPT, which saw foreign purchases exceeding 64 billion VND. Other notable purchases included VIB and HCM, with foreign investors acquiring 42 billion VND and 30 billion VND worth of these stocks, respectively.
In contrast, VCB topped the list of stocks sold off by foreign investors, with a net selling value of 87 billion VND. Other stocks facing significant sell-offs included VPB and DXG, which saw net sales of 77 billion VND and 55 billion VND, respectively. On the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX), foreign investors were also net sellers, offloading 15 billion VND worth of shares.
Despite the overall negative sentiment, PVS was the most purchased stock on HNX, with net foreign purchases amounting to 8.5 billion VND. Additionally, VFS followed closely with net purchases of 0.5 billion VND. However, IDC faced considerable selling pressure from foreign investors, with a net selling value of 17 billion VND.
On UPCOM, foreign investors recorded a net purchase of 29 billion VND, with MSR being the most actively bought stock at 30 billion VND. Other stocks like QNS and F88 also saw minor net purchases. Conversely, ACV was among those sold off by foreign investors, with a net selling value of 4 billion VND.
This ongoing trend of foreign selling highlights the cautious sentiment prevailing in the market, as investors react to various economic indicators and market conditions.
