Gold Prices on July 19: Losses of 5.8 Million VND per Ounce
On July 19, investors faced significant losses in gold trading, with prices dropping by 5.8 million VND per

Gold prices experienced a slight dip on July 27, 2026, retreating from the $4,100 per ounce mark as traders await the Federal Reserve's upcoming meeting. The global gold price fell to around $4,091.23 per ounce after a strong start to the trading session.
The decrease in gold prices is attributed to a temporary easing of tensions in the Middle East, which has led to a decline in oil prices and, consequently, reduced inflation fears. On the same day, gold futures in the U.S. saw a modest increase of 0.59%, reaching $4,095.00 per ounce.
Additionally, a weakening U.S. dollar has provided some support for the precious metal, with the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) dropping by 0.3%. This decline makes gold more appealing to buyers holding other currencies. However, the overall market sentiment remains cautious as investors focus on the Federal Reserve's two-day meeting scheduled for July 28-29, where it is widely expected that the Fed will keep interest rates unchanged.
According to the CME FedWatch Tool, traders are pricing in a 74% likelihood of an interest rate hike in September. The recent fluctuations in gold prices highlight the ongoing challenges faced by the metal, which is often viewed as a hedge against inflation but does not yield returns, making it less attractive when interest rates rise.
In related markets, silver prices increased by 2.13% to $59.41 per ounce, platinum rose by 2.66% to $1,635.11 per ounce, and palladium gained 2.48% to $1,284.75 per ounce.
