Hanoi to pilot public bike rental service next week
HCMC – The capital city of Hanoi will trial public bike rental service in six inner-city districts starting
After one year of launching 500 public bikes in 43 spots in District 1, the service has been well received by users.
At a meeting with the Netherlands Consulate General, the HCMC Transport Department said that the service would be expanded to neighboring districts in early 2023.
Many districts have sent a list of expected rental spots to set up public bike stations and a separate traffic lane for this means of transport.
Do Ngoc Hai, head of the Road Transport Management Division under the HCMC Department of Transport, said that the rental spot would be arranged not only on the pavement but also on nearby Metro Line No.1 – Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien, bus stops, supermarkets, shopping centers and offices.
