Crossing the forest to discover the dreamlike waterfall in Khanh Hoa, Viet Nam

Known by backpackers as the most beautiful waterfall in Khanh Hoa, Ta Gu waterfall is like a wonderful gift of nature for those who love to explore and conquer.

Ta Gu Waterfall is located in Son Hiep commune, Khanh Son district, Khanh Hoa, about 60km from Cam Ranh airport. Visitors will pass through the center of Cam Ranh city, then turn to DT656 road and Khanh Son pass zigzag with many continuous bends, winding between pine forests.

Ta Gu Waterfall rises 1300 meters above sea level from the summit of Hon Ba. Hon Ba is high in Khanh Hoa, so it often rains here. Thanks to that, the water at Ta Gu waterfall seldom dries up and flows all year round. Because the shape of the waterfall looks like white ivory from afar, it stands out of the brown color of the rocks and the green color of the mountains, so Ta Gu waterfall was formerly called Ivory (Nga Voi) waterfall. Later, because the waterfall's flow merged with the Ta Gu stream, it was called Ta Gu Waterfall.

Due to the waterfall's location in the forest, any visitor must go through a journey of walking more than 200m from the entrance. Although it is only a 200m walk to the waterfall, this is quite a challenging journey because this place still retains its pristine appearance, the road through the forest with steep, slippery rocks. In return, visitors will be immersed in the deep green primeval forest space, the sun rays shining through each layer of leaves and the wind blowing in the head, signaling a space completely separate from the bustle of life.
The foot of Ta Gu waterfall will astound everyone when the route passes past the damp stone stairs. White foam was thrown into the lake below when the water erupted rumblingly at more than 40m from the unstable granite slab in the center of the untamed hundreds. The natural white silk band gives weary travelers a sense of cooling and rejuvenation.
The lake bottom below is approximately 200m wide and quite calm, contrasting with the thunderous cascade above. The cold, pure water will banish all the summer heat. Only you and the echoing sounds of the wind, the water rushing, and the woodland birds may be heard in the heart of that area.

The area downstream of the waterfall is also a very suitable place to "chill"; Visitors may utilize the SUP paddle service on the calm lake surface, have delectable meals of local cuisine and mountain fare in the middle of the river, or learn about the Raglai people's way of life.
Vinh Bear, a travel writer who recently returned from Ta Gu, shared:
"Despite the brief time spent at the Ta Gu waterfall, it introduced me to a different area of Khanh Hoa where the senses appear to be stimulated. The ears can hear the sound of the 40m high water flowing straight down; the eyes can see the pristine nature and beautiful green ancient forest; The tongue can taste great flavors from food and fruits, and the cold water of a waterfall touches the whole body. The nose may appreciate the scents of plants, flowers, and fresh air. All of Khanh Son's woods and mountains are here."
Not a place where tourism and services are invested, but Ta Gu waterfall is an ideal place to "take each other away" from the city noises and let the mind melt into the clear silence.
