Thousands of people enjoy watching farmers race horses at the Go Thi Thung festival

Thousands of tourists enjoy coming to see the Go Thi Thung horse racing festival (Tuy An district, Phu Yen).

On the morning of the 9th of Tet (January 30), in An Xuan commune (Tuy An district, Phu Yen), the Go Thi Thung traditional horse racing festival took place. The racing festival attracts thousands of locals and tourists to watch and cheer.

Go Thi Thung where horse racing is associated with the national historical site of the Go Thi Thung tunnels. 

This year’s racing festival has the participation of 32 horses, most of which are specialized in agricultural products, and the riders are mainly local farmers.

“I heard a lot about the Go Thi Thung horse racing festival, but this year I have only had the opportunity to attend. This year’s racing festival is very fun, rustic, and sincere like people, the land of Phu Yen. I think anyone has the opportunity to experience it. They all find it very interesting,” shared Le Tham Hoa from Khanh Hoa province.

“The atmosphere of this year’s race is very joyful, bustling and also different from other places because the racehorse is a pack horse and the horse is a farmer. Our team took a lot of beautiful pictures. The trip. This tour is really interesting,” said Mr. Huynh Van Toan in Quang Binh happily.

Horse racing festival in Go Thi Thung for many years has attracted a large number of tourists to attend and become a distinct beauty in Phu Yen. The People’s Committee of Phu Yen province has oriented to develop the horse racing festival into a local cultural and tourist activity associated with the national historical monument of the Go Thi Thung tunnels.
