Hanoi Old Quarter on the last day of the year

Hanoi’s Old Quarter is open at the end of the year, many people leisurely go shopping for Tet, walking around Hoan Kiem Lake in the weather of more than 10 degrees Celsius.

People buy old coriander leaves at Bac Qua market to bathe in the late afternoon of the year. According to traditional custom, bathing in coriander leaves at the end of the year is to wash away the bad luck of the old year and welcome the new year with a better start.

This year, due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, Hanoi city stopped organizing all kinds of festivals, activities with large gatherings and did not fire fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
