Newcastle United has officially agreed to a deal with Manchester City for midfielder Nico Gonzalez, marking a significant addition to their squad. The Tyneside club will pay an upfront fee of £48 million, with an additional £4 million in potential add-ons. Gonzalez, 24, has been granted permission to travel to Newcastle for a medical examination.

Nico made 41 appearances for Manchester City during the 2025-26 season, although he started only two Premier League matches after January. Newcastle has already made six signings this summer, including midfielders Aladji Bamba and Sean Steur, reflecting a shift in their transfer policy towards younger talent.
