Tottenham Hotspur has emerged as serious contenders to sign AS Roma midfielder Manu Kone, following

Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of midfielder Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United for a record-breaking fee of £100 million. This transfer marks the second time this summer that Tottenham has set a new club record, following their recent acquisition of Mateus Fernandes for £85 million just four days prior.
The deal consists of an immediate payment of £92.5 million, with an additional £7.5 million contingent on Tottenham's qualification for European competitions. Tonali has signed a six-year contract with the club, as Tottenham looks to revamp their squad after finishing 17th in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons.
Tonali expressed his excitement during his unveiling, stating, "I am very happy to be here. As soon as I arrived at the club today, I felt incredible. Many people said that four or five teams were pursuing me, but for me, there was only one. I spoke with the head coach for nearly two hours about the club, the fans, the stadium, and the style of play. Everything felt magical, and I knew immediately that I had to sign with Tottenham. I have faced Tottenham many times and have always felt the great atmosphere created by the fans. I can't wait to start the season."
New Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi also shared his enthusiasm about the signing, calling Tonali a "special player" and a fantastic addition to the team. He mentioned having followed Tonali since his youth days at Brescia, expressing his joy at the opportunity to work with him. De Zerbi noted that despite the interest from several top clubs, Tonali made it clear that he wanted to join Tottenham.
Initially, Newcastle rejected Tottenham's first offer of £75 million, but ongoing negotiations eventually led to a successful agreement. As part of the transfer, Tonali will wear the number 16 shirt at Tottenham, a number that carries a unique history within the club.
With this significant investment in their midfield, Tottenham is expected to continue their summer spending spree, potentially reaching a total of £350 million as they pursue more signings to enhance their squad for the upcoming season.
