Tottenham Eyes Manu Kone as Arsenal Denies Transfer Talks

Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly keen on acquiring AS Roma's talented midfielder Manu Kone, positioning themselves as genuine contenders for his signature. This development comes after Arsenal downplayed any claims of having an agreed deal for the player, who has been on their radar this summer.

Under the guidance of manager Roberto De Zerbi, Tottenham is looking to revamp their squad after finishing 17th in the Premier League for two consecutive seasons. The club has already made significant signings, including Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke, to strengthen their defense. Now, the focus has shifted to enhancing their central midfield and left-wing positions.

Reports suggest that Tottenham has made inquiries about Kone, taking advantage of AS Roma's Financial Fair Play situation, which may compel the Italian club to sell players by the end of January. Kone, a 25-year-old midfielder, was initially thought to be heading to Arsenal after discussions regarding personal terms, but recent updates indicate that the Gunners are no longer pursuing him.

According to Italian outlet Corriere della Sera, Tottenham is evaluating the conditions for a potential £40 million deal for Kone. The French international is reportedly open to a move to Spurs, despite their absence from European competitions next season. Described as a dynamic and athletic player, Kone has established himself as one of Serie A's most complete box-to-box midfielders during his time in Rome.

Currently, Kone is participating in the World Cup, where he was an unused substitute in France's 3-1 victory over Senegal in their opening group match. He may feature in their upcoming match against Iraq.
