Thailand Media Reacts to Vietnam's Largest Stadium Renaming

The Thai media has taken notice as Vietnam's largest stadium, which boasts a capacity of 135,000, has officially been renamed VinFast. This stadium, previously referred to by names such as Trống Đồng and Lạc Việt, is part of a larger initiative known as Vinhomes Global Sportia, which aims to elevate Vietnam's profile in international sports.

VinGroup, the company behind the stadium's development, has chosen to name the venue after its electric vehicle brand, VinFast. This trend of naming stadiums after major corporations is not uncommon globally, as it can enhance commercial value and brand visibility.

The VinFast stadium is set to be constructed on approximately 73.3 hectares within the International Sports City of Hanoi, previously known as the Olympic City. Once completed, it is expected to be one of the largest stadiums in the world, significantly larger than Hanoi's current My Dinh Stadium.

According to reports, the new stadium will not only host football matches but also cultural events, entertainment shows, and international festivals, making it a key feature of the new sports complex in Hanoi. The design of the stadium draws inspiration from traditional Vietnamese cultural symbols, such as the Lạc bird and Đông Sơn drums, blending traditional values with modern architectural styles.

The stadium will feature a retractable roof, high-standard VVIP areas for international dignitaries, and advanced intelligent systems for flexible functionality. The project is expected to commence construction by the end of 2025 and aims for completion by July 2027.

Moreover, the VinFast stadium is being developed with environmental considerations in mind, incorporating artificial intelligence in its management and utilizing materials that are heat-resistant and UV-protective. The attention from Thai media highlights the significant impact this project is anticipated to have in the region.
