Indonesia Selects Venue for AFF Cup 2026 Match Against Vietnam

The Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) has officially chosen the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta as the venue for the upcoming match against Vietnam in the AFF Cup 2026. This decision comes after initial plans to hold the game at the Pakansari Stadium in Bogor.

The match is set to take place on August 3, 2026, and is expected to attract a large crowd, given that Gelora Bung Karno has a capacity of over 77,000 spectators, significantly more than the 30,000 capacity of Pakansari Stadium.

PSSI President Erick Thohir expressed that hosting a match against a strong team like Vietnam at a large stadium is crucial for creating a vibrant atmosphere. He emphasized that for matches against significant teams in and outside Southeast Asia, the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium is the preferred choice.

The Vietnamese national team, the defending champions of the AFF Cup, will be competing in Group A alongside Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, and Timor Leste. Each team in the group will play two home and two away matches during the group stage.

The AFF Cup 2026 is scheduled to take place from July 24 to August 26, 2026, and the anticipation for the match between Indonesia and Vietnam is already building among fans.
