The Vietnam national football team is preparing for the ASEAN Cup 2026 with a robust lineup, determined to defend their title. Under the guidance of coach Kim Sang Sik, the team has assembled a squad of 28 players, showcasing not only their technical skills but also impressive physical stature.
One of the standout statistics is that 15 players in the squad are over 1.80 meters tall, a remarkable record for the team. This height advantage is particularly notable in the defensive line, where goalkeeper Trần Trung Kiên stands at 1.91 meters, and new addition Patrik Lê Giang is 1.88 meters tall. Other notable heights include Đặng Văn Lâm at 1.89 meters and new recruit Hoàng Hên at 1.82 meters.
In the defense, players like Đoàn Văn Hậu at 1.86 meters and Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh at 1.84 meters are expected to excel in duels and aerial challenges. Additionally, center-back Đinh Quang Kiệt impresses with a height of 1.95 meters, making him the tallest player in this training camp.
The midfield also boasts tall players, including Nguyễn Hoàng Đức at 1.84 meters and Đỗ Hoàng Hên at 1.82 meters. The forward line is equally formidable, with all five strikers called up by coach Kim Sang Sik measuring over 1.80 meters, including Nguyễn Tài Lộc at 1.88 meters and Nguyễn Xuân Son at 1.86 meters.
With a combination of technical ability and physical prowess, the Vietnam team is well-prepared for the upcoming challenges. They will gather for training starting June 22 in Hanoi, followed by a training camp in South Korea from July 2 to July 14, where they will play three international friendly matches to finalize their strategies.
After the training camp, the team will return to Hanoi for further preparations, culminating in a friendly match against Myanmar on July 18 at Thái Nguyên Stadium. This match will serve as a crucial opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the team's readiness ahead of the ASEAN Cup 2026.
In the group stage of the tournament, Vietnam will kick off against Timor Leste on July 24 away, followed by a home match against Singapore on July 31, and an away game against Indonesia on August 3. The final group match for the defending champions will be against Cambodia on August 7.
