Việt Phát Faces Tax Enforcement Over Delayed Payments

On August 17, 2026, Việt Phát Investment Trading Import-Export Joint Stock Company (VPG) received ten enforcement decisions from the tax authority in Hanoi regarding overdue tax payments. The company has been mandated to pay over 4.96 billion VND due to delays exceeding 90 days from the tax payment deadline.

Previously, on July 7, Việt Phát was notified by the tax authority in Hai Phong about a travel ban imposed on its Chairwoman, Lê Thị Thanh Lệ. The travel ban was enacted because she is the legal representative of Việt Phát, which has tax debts exceeding 500 million VND and overdue payments that have surpassed 120 days.

In its 2025 audited financial report, auditors highlighted that legal actions had been initiated against former executives, including the former Chairman, Nguyễn Văn Bình, and the former General Director, Nguyễn Văn Đức. Currently, the Ministry of Public Security is conducting an investigation, and no official conclusion has been reached yet.

Following the leadership crisis, Lê Thị Thanh Lệ was elected as the new Chairwoman on June 3, 2025, replacing Nguyễn Văn Bình, and on August 4, 2025, Nguyễn Xuân Trường was appointed as the new General Director, succeeding Nguyễn Văn Đức.

Regarding business operations, Việt Phát reported a loss of 65.9 billion VND in the first half of 2026, compared to a profit of 42.7 billion VND in the same period last year. As of June 30, 2026, the company has accumulated losses of 260.2 billion VND, representing 18.1% of its charter capital.

At the same time, Việt Phát holds 12.59 billion VND in cash and equivalents, while its total debt amounts to 915.2 billion VND, which is 97.5% of its total equity.

As of the close of trading on August 17, VPG shares were priced at 1,830 VND each.
