The Department of Education and Training in Bac Ninh has put forth a proposal to merge and reduce the number of educational institutions by approximately 48.77%. This initiative is part of an effort to improve management efficiency across the province, with a deadline for completion set for August 30.
Currently, Bac Ninh has a total of 1,140 educational facilities, including kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, vocational education centers, and special education institutions. The breakdown includes 382 kindergartens, 317 primary schools, and 292 secondary schools, among others.
Under the proposed restructuring plan, the number of educational institutions will be reduced to 584. This means a decrease of 556 facilities, which translates to a 48.77% reduction overall. Specifically, the reductions will include a 54.45% decrease in kindergartens, a 51.1% decrease in primary schools, and a 45.89% decrease in secondary schools.
Bac Ninh consists of 33 districts and wards, each of which will retain three schools—one for each educational level: kindergarten, primary, and secondary. The Department of Internal Affairs will review the proposal before it is submitted to the provincial People's Committee and the Provincial Party Committee for approval by August 15.
On July 22, the provincial government issued a document outlining the restructuring of public educational institutions, stating that mountainous districts must reduce their educational facilities by at least 30% by July 1, 2025, while other districts must achieve a minimum reduction of 50%.
If the necessary measures are implemented but the reduction goals are not met, a written explanation must be provided to the relevant authorities for consideration.
