IShowSpeed Showcases Vietnamese Cultural Hat During Live Stream

On June 17, during a live stream of the match between Portugal and the Democratic Republic of Congo, renowned streamer IShowSpeed made headlines by wearing a traditional Vietnamese conical hat. The moment occurred when a Vietnamese fan, Ngo Truong Dinh from Da Nang, presented the hat to him, prompting Speed to excitedly announce, "Look everyone, this is a hat from Vietnam!" This interaction quickly captured the attention of over 9 million viewers watching his live stream.

Truong Dinh, who traveled to the U.S. to attend the World Cup starting June 12, invested over 7 million VND to commission an artist to paint seven conical hats featuring famous football stars like Messi, Neymar, Bruno, Casemiro, and Ronaldo. The hat designed with Ronaldo's image was specifically intended for IShowSpeed. To ensure he could present the gift in person, Dinh spent $2,500 (approximately 63 million VND) on a first-class ticket.

"I wasn't sure if he would notice or appreciate the gift, but it seems luck was on my side," Dinh expressed, sharing his pride in showcasing Vietnamese culture to a global audience through a prominent streamer. Dinh, a devoted Ronaldo fan, had previously met IShowSpeed at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024, where he had shown him a conical hat but did not receive as enthusiastic a response as this time.

In addition to the hat given to Speed, Dinh also gifted another hat to a Portuguese fan and plans to distribute the remaining hats to other fans in the coming days. He is set to watch six matches during this year's World Cup and anticipates returning to Vietnam on July 3. Dinh estimates his total expenses for the trip to be around 200-300 million VND, which includes flights, accommodation, and match tickets. He noted that the costs have surged significantly this year, with ticket prices approximately three times higher than those during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
