Hanoi University of Science and Technology Deputy Director Honored

Huynh Quyet Thang, the Deputy Director of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, has been honored with the title of "Outstanding Citizen of the Capital" for 2026. The award was presented at a ceremony recognizing exemplary individuals for their contributions to society on October 9, 2026.

Thang, who is also a member of the Hanoi People's Council and a representative in the 16th National Assembly, is among nine individuals to receive this prestigious title. The recognition is a testament to his persistent efforts in enhancing educational quality and advancing scientific research at the university.

Upon receiving the award, Thang expressed his gratitude and emphasized that this honor not only brings joy but also adds responsibility to him and the entire team at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. He noted that the award reflects the collective intelligence, effort, and solidarity of faculty, staff, and students throughout the university's history.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology plays a crucial role as the "heart of technology" in the capital, actively contributing intellectual resources to the comprehensive digital transformation across three main areas: digital government, digital economy, and digital society.

With the support of the Hanoi Party Committee and local authorities, the university is committed to implementing resolutions aimed at innovation and scientific research from 2021 to 2025. The institution's teaching and research missions closely align with the practical development needs of the capital.

In the realm of digital governance, the university has organized training courses on digital transformation for local leaders in Hanoi. Additionally, research teams are focused on applying artificial intelligence and developing digital platforms to enhance urban management.

In terms of the digital economy, the period from 2021 to 2025 has seen the establishment of a Student Startup Innovation Club, laying the groundwork for the formation of the Hanoi Innovation Center by 2026. Concurrently, laboratories are intensifying research on core technologies, particularly semiconductor technology, to boost the digital economy.

For the digital society pillar, the university collaborates closely with the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to promote STEM education and organize events that foster creativity among the youth.

The connection between theoretical research and practical applications is evident through the university's contributions to solving urban development challenges. To date, researchers from the university have proposed 11 solutions to address 30 major issues set forth by the city, which are currently being implemented in collaboration with various departments.

A notable product resulting from the "Three Houses" model (State - School - Business) is the successful development of a rescue elevator designed to protect lives and property, which has received direct orders from the Hanoi People's Committee for production in partnership with businesses. The emergence of high-application technological solutions underscores the collective creative strength of the faculty, researchers, and students at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

Thang maintains that education should motivate, discover potential, and transform passion into reality. He believes that the greatest satisfaction for an educator comes from witnessing students grow and excel beyond their teachers.
