Viettel is the most valuable brand in Vietnam basing on foreign investment

Due to significant foreign investment, strong assets, and performance, Viettel has a brand worth close to $9 billion and has been the most valuable Vietnamese brand for eight years.

On August 15, Brand Finance announced the Top 100 most valuable brands in Vietnam. With a nearly 9 billion USD price, Viettel Group continues to become the most valuable brand in Vietnam and the most valuable telecommunications brand in Southeast Asia. Alex Haigh - Managing Director of Brand Finance Asia-Pacific, said that the unit considers three pillars to determine a brand's strength: investment - assets - and performance.

Brand investment represents all the tools a company has at its disposal to affect brand value. Due to its successful entry into the worldwide market, Viettel is currently considered by Brand Finance specialists to be the most valuable brand in Vietnam.

According to Alex Haigh, Viettel has established branches in many countries. This demonstrates the Group's capacity to harness its experience, adapt to various markets, and generate value on a worldwide scale.

After nearly 20 years of foreign investment, Viettel is currently in the top 20 of the world's leading enterprises in telecommunications investment. The unit launched an overseas investment strategy early to expand the market and create new development space to achieve this result. The Group develops business in 10 overseas markets, spanning three continents (Asia, Africa, and America). In which there are 7 foreign markets, Viettel ranked first and second in mobile market share.

The second aspect mentioned is brand equity - a measure of brand awareness among different groups and stakeholders. It is positive that brands are considering ESG sustainable development factors. Immediately after entering the market, the Viettel unit has a sense of adding value to the neighborhood.

Alex Haigh also pointed out that the company's involvement in digital transformation and investment in cutting-edge technologies, such as 5G, demonstrates a forward-thinking approach. This technological power creates new opportunities for growth and innovation in Southeast Asia and globally.

"Viettel's strengths in research and innovation attributes and quality further confirm its commitment to always be at the forefront of innovation," the analyst said.

The third important factor is brand performance. Brand Finance will evaluate quantitative market and financial measures to evaluate success in achieving superior price and quantity. In these indicators, the diversification of operating fields has contributed to outstanding results when Brand Finance assesses the brand. Mr. Alex Haigh said: "Viettel's success has gone beyond telecommunications. The unit has diversified its business lines into digital services, information technology, network security and the defense industry. ".

This diversification allows the entity to enter different sectors and markets, minimizing risks and opening new revenue streams. The Group plays a pioneering and key role in the national digital transformation strategy in telecommunications - information technology and high-tech defense industry.

In 2022, the Group's revenue increased by 6.1%. The digital solutions and services field showed a breakthrough; revenue increased by 58%. Viettel accompanies, consults and implements 19 digital transformation projects for more than 20 units under ministries and sectors, nearly 40 Smart City Monitoring and Operation Center (IOC) projects implemented in many provinces and cities nationwide.

In defense and security, the Group has researched and produced over 50 products belonging to 10 weapons and high-tech equipment branches to supply the army and master the entire 5G network system from radio base stations, transmission equipment and core network. The unit has deployed a full range of products in the 5G ecosystem.
