EU relaxes food safety requirements for Vietnamese instant noodles
HCMC – Starting from June 27, Vietnamese instant noodles exported to the European Union (EU) will no longer require food safety inspection certificates issued by authorized agencies in Vietnam.

On June 7, the EU made amendments to Regulation 2019/1973, which governs emergency measures for controlling food exports to the EU.

As a result of this amendment, Vietnamese instant noodles have been moved from Annex II to Annex I. This reclassification means that only 20% of the products will be subject to control at EU border gates, without the need for a Health Certificate.

This decision acknowledges the efforts of the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade in ensuring food safety and providing support to businesses in overcoming challenges.

In the second half of this year, if any food safety violations involving Vietnamese instant noodles are discovered, the EU will include Vietnam’s vermicelli and rice products in Annex II again, subjecting 50% of the products to control at EU border gates.

To ensure that Vietnamese products meet EU standards and can successfully enter the market, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has instructed export businesses to strictly adhere to the EU’s food safety regulations and effectively manage their production supply chains.
