Dragon fruits to China must be free of pathogens from the start

Binh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade said that the unit has requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, People's Committees of districts, towns, cities, Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association and dragon fruit exporting businesses in the province to strengthen the implementation of the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control for goods exported to China.

According to Mr. Bien Tan Tai, Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Department of Industry and Trade, the Lang Son Provincial People's Committee has issued a written recommendation that China will continue to strengthen strict Covid-19 prevention and control in the near future. Therefore, in order to export goods meeting China's pandemic prevention and control requirements, and especially for dragon fruit exports to pass through the northern border gate conveniently and smoothly, the Departments, local governments, associations and businesses need to deploy synchronous solutions.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in particular must supervise the management and use of planting area codes and packaging codes for dragon fruit exports to China as well as strictly handle any violations. The Department must also strengthen the management of food quality and safety; ensure strict control over the use of chemicals, stimulants, weight gainers, etc. in the entire chain of dragon fruit production and consumption to ensure a safe production process.

The Department also needs to promote the organization of dragon fruit production in accordance with VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards to ensure, satisfy the consumption market.

As for the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities, it is necessary to strengthen reminders, inspection of the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control measures at companies, businesses, cooperatives, packaging and purchasing establishments; organizations and individuals conducting freight forwarding businesses in local production and business.

The Binh Thuan Dragon Fruit Association has successfully performed its role as a bridge between businesses in enhancing information on market conditions, prices, etc. to its members so that businesses can actively develop production, trading and export plans.

Businesses are also encouraged to participate in trade promotion programs, expand markets, and handle output for dragon fruit. In addition, they must timely grasp the current difficulties, problems to propose, recommend solutions to relevant units and help in removing such difficulties, promoting production and business activities, dragon fruit exports.

According to Mr. Tai, regarding the province's industry and trade, the province will chair and coordinate with relevant units to organize a delegation this May, working with dragon fruit exporting businesses in the province on the situation of Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control for exports and dragon fruit consumption in recent years.

In addition, the Department of Industry and Trade will also regularly monitor and assess the situation to inform functional agencies in the northern border provinces on activities at border gates, requirements by the Chinese government in prevention and control at the border gates to promptly inform, advise and support businesses in the province import and export goods smoothly.
