HCMC – Vietnam’ Covid-19 tally has risen to 3,658 after the Ministry of Health reported 35 new cases this morning, May 13, including 33 domestic infections and two imported cases. Of the total, 22 cases were detected in Danang.
Besides Danang, new locally-infected cases were found in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc and Bac Giang.
The two imported cases were confirmed in Long An and An Giang.
Thus, the country has had 643 Covid-19 cases in the latest outbreak since April 27.
In related news, secretary of the Danang Party Committee Nguyen Van Quang on May 12 said the city would file charges against a case of causing Covid-19 community transmission at Amida beauty salon, which is now the biggest pandemic hotspot in the city with more than 40 cases.
Quang had earlier asked the municipal competent agencies to impose heavy sanctions on those violating regulations on the pandemic prevention and control.
In HCMC, the municipal Department of Health on May 12 asked hospitals in the city to take samples of all employees, patients and visiting family members for Covid-19 testing.
Hospitals that have yet to receive the Ministry of Health’s permission to conduct Covid-19 tests will transfer the samples to other units for testing under the direction of the municipal Center for Disease Control.
In another development, on the same day, a delegation of the Hanoi City government led by municipal vice chairman Chu Xuan Dung, deputy head of the municipal steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control, checked the preparations of centralized quarantine areas at the Vietnam National University-Hanoi and a campus of FPT University in Thach That District.
Thach That Chairman Nguyen Manh Hong said these universities would today hand over buildings to the district for the quarantine purpose.
Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen yesterday worked with the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases and K Hospital to review anti-pandemic measures at the two hospitals and work out the most effective solutions.
After detecting new cases, these hospitals have put in a great deal of effort to curb the pandemic.
The National Hospital for Tropical Diseases expected to put the pandemic under control this week, while K Hospital will conduct Covid-19 tests on all employees for the second time late this week. The hospital proposed the Ministry of Health allow it to lift the lockdown in the Phan Chu Trinh and Tam Hiep campuses if all of them test negative.
