HCMC - Performing artist Nhi Le is introducing a contemporary art performance called “The Red Map” at the modern architectural space of Toong Pham Ngoc Thach in HCMC, bringing the audience and art lovers into a new realm of consciousness.

Done with only a thread of wool, “The Red Map” turns the audience into an important and inseparable part of the artwork. Instead of using the body as materials for expressions, Nhi Le focuses on the reactions and emotions of the audience, thus reflecting on human-to-human connections, which are multidimensional and hard to predict.

For the artist as well as GocCreation, the curator, the exhibition is like a test. Nhi Le is performing for the first time in front of a group of entrepreneurs and an intellectual audience as well as the contemporary public, who remain newcomers to conceptual art. The Toong workspace also boldly transforms the art program for members, with the belief that this will help nurture the community's experience, intellectually and spiritually.

“The Red Map is not a work to love or hate. It opens up a safe spiritual space where viewers can observe, feel and contemplate,” Nhi Le shared.

This contemporary art performance is part of “The Showcase: Nhi Le” program, which also exhibits a series of documentary photo sets capturing Nhi Le’s previous performances.

As a performance artist, Nhi Le is dedicated to researching and finding new forms of artistic experiences for the audience. She hopes her work will remind people about "first times", such as the first time humans set foot on the moon, or the moment they first ate ice cream as a child.
