HCMC looks to stronger Vietnam-Indonesia business ties
HCMC – HCMC has expressed expectations that cooperation between Vietnamese and Indonesian businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), will expand in the future.

HCMC chairman Phan Van Mai made the statement yesterday, March 14, at a meeting with Arsjad Rasjid, chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), during his two-day visit to Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

The KADIN chairman’s visit to Vietnam would contribute to advancing Vietnam-Indonesia relations as well as the cooperation between HCMC and Indonesian businesses in the future, Mai said.

The HCMC government leader added that Vietnam and Indonesia need to tighten their cooperation on the local and central levels and among businesses of the two nations to implement Indonesia’s key priorities as the 2023 ASEAN chairman.

Mai suggested that Indonesian and HCMC SMEs and startups cooperate in digital transformation and share experiences in developing legal frameworks in digital finance and banking.

Given its vital role in the region’s agro production and development and as Vietnam’s southern healthcare center, HCMC is willing to share its experience in food security, healthcare and disease prevention and control with its Indonesian partners.

In addition, HCMC looks to strengthen its cooperation with Indonesia in human resources training and public diplomacy, jointly contributing to the development of Vietnam-Indonesia relations and the ASEAN community.

Regarding the KADIN leader, he highlighted the dynamic and robust growth of HCMC.

During its ASEAN chairmanship year, Indonesia seeks to tighten trade ties with ASEAN member countries, especially Vietnam, including HCMC, since the two countries’ populations account for a large proportion of ASEAN’s.

Rasjid also said Indonesia wants to join hands with HCMC to promote trade and investment, contributing to the development of the nations.
