Tetra Pak, VECA join to expand used carton collection
HCMC – Tetra Pak has cooperated with VECA to expand the collection of used beverage cartons to 18 districts
Tetra Pak Binh Duong was the first and only plant to get the AA+ grade rating among 82 factories in Vietnam’s packaging sector. The certification is valid until March 6, 2024.
BRCGS, created by the British Retail Consortium, is a quality management system standard designed to set food safety, quality and operational standards for global packaging solutions companies. AA+ factories are allowed to have no more than four nonconformities in operational procedures.
An unannounced third-party inspection recently found only two minor violations at Tetra Pak Binh Duong.
According to Eliseo Barcas, managing director of Tetra Pak Vietnam, the AA+ rating demonstrates the strict adherence and consistent quality of Tetra Pak Binh Duong’s manufacturing procedure.
The factory previously received an AA rating for four years in a row after its operations began in 2019. Tetra Pak Binh Duong focuses on producing aseptic carton packages for the local market and exporting to ASEAN members, Australia and New Zealand.
The factory has committed to saving two million liters of water, reusing or recycling 90% of waste and offsetting 4,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually, with an aim of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions in operations by 2030.
Tetra Pak has invested an additional five million euros in its factory in Binh Duong Province, seeking to increase the annual output to 16.5 billion carton packages and install 2,300 solar panels on its roof.
