HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has sought approval to expand the Lien Khuong Airport as an international airport by 2030, matching the requirements of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s 4E category. 

The airport in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong will serve both civil and military purposes. 

As planned, Lien Khuong Airport is expected to handle five million passengers and 20,000 tons of cargo by 2030 annually, with aircraft ranging from the Airbus A320, A321 and A350 to the Boeing B747 and B787 and equivalent.

The plan calls for constructing new terminal T2 with an annual capacity of three million passengers, as well as the extension of runaways and other technical infrastructure. 

Lien Khuong Airport is slated to serve seven million passengers and 30,000 tons of freight annually by 2050.

Located in Duc Trong District, Lien Khuong Airport is the largest one in the Central Highlands. It is 28 kilometers from Dalat, the capital city of Lam Dong Province.

In response to rising demand, the airport opened a new passenger terminal and began operating international flights in 2009. 

In 2019, it exceeded the designed capacity of two million passengers annually. 

Vietjet Air, a Vietnamese airline, launched a four-flight weekly route between Dalat and Bangkok in early December.
