Seven million tourists come to Kien Giang in Jan-Nov

HCMC – The Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang attracted over seven million tourists in January-November this year, up 164% year-on-year, according to the Kien Giang Tourism Department.

Of over seven million tourists, foreigners accounted for 194,500. Phu Quoc Island alone attracted over 4.7 million guests in the period.

The province has reaped over VND9.6 billion this year, up 263.2% year-on-year. This high growth resulted from pandemic travel restrictions last year.

Kien Giang is striving to accelerate the construction of infrastructure at key tourist sites in the lead-up to the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

The relevant provincial agencies have been tasked with strictly supervising the operation of tourist businesses in terms of facilities, means of transport and products and services and preventing overcharging and soliciting.

Bui Quoc Thai, director of the Kien Giang Tourism Department, attributed the outstanding performance to effective measures to prevent Covid-19 and sound investment in tourist infrastructure.

Kien Giang received two nominations as the World’s Leading Nature Island Destination 2022 and the World’s Leading Luxury Wedding Resort 2022 at the World Travel Awards 2022 held in Oman.
