Rest areas proposed for Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway

HCMC – The Can Tho City government has proposed building three rest areas along the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway, each covering around 5.6 hectares, according to the local media.

The three rest areas will be developed in Chau Phu District of An Giang Province, Co Do District of Can Tho City, and My Tu District of Soc Trang Province. They will be around 50-60 kilometers apart.

In October, the Transport Construction Investment Management Authority required investors to direct the consulting units to review the planning, investment scale and the locations of the rest areas on the route.

Necessary documents about the rest areas will be sent to the Ministry of Transport for further consideration.

The Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway has a total length of over 189 kilometers, passing through An Giang, Can Tho, Hau Giang and Soc Trang.

With a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour, the expressway would have four traffic lanes in the first phase. Work on the project is expected to be completed in 2026.

In the second phase, the expressway will be expanded to six lanes.
